One of my favorite travel habits is keeping a small pouch inside my backpack that I call my “Need Anything?” bag. It’s the first thing I reach for on travel days, and it has saved me more times than I can count.
Whether I’m headed on a work trip or vacation, I never dig through my suitcase in the airport. Everything I might need is in one place.
Here’s what always makes the cut:
✈️ Pepto Bismol tablets – Because airport food can be unpredictable.
💊 Aleve – For headaches, sore muscles, or long travel days.
🤧 Benadryl – Allergies don’t care that you’re traveling.
💊 Any daily medications – Always keep these in your personal item, never in your checked bag.
🧼 Hand sanitizer – Airport essential.
🧻 Flushable wipes – Great for freshening up after a long flight or a less-than-stellar airport restroom.
🖊️ A pen – You’ll be surprised how often you still need one.
🩹 Feminine products – Even if I don’t expect to need them, they’re always packed.
🧴 Mini Vaseline – My secret weapon for dry lips, dry hands, and those dry airplane cabin conditions.
🧼 Mini deodorant – Perfect for freshening up before meetings after landing.
🧴 Travel sunscreen – Easy to forget until you’re walking out of the airport into bright sunshine.
🩹 Hydrocortisone cream – Bug bites, itchy skin, or irritation—it’s tiny and worth packing.
🤲 Hand lotion – Airplane cabins are incredibly drying.
👓 Glasses cleaning cloth – Because smudged glasses make everything harder.
🤧 Kleenex – For allergies, spills, or whatever the day throws at you.
🍬 Mints – Before boarding, after coffee, or before walking into a meeting.
📎 Bobby pins – Tiny but endlessly useful.
✨ Under-eye patches – My favorite little luxury. I’ll throw them on while getting ready after an early flight, and they make me look much more awake than I actually feel.
Why I Never Travel Without It
This pouch moves from my work bag to my vacation backpack, so it’s always stocked and ready to go. Instead of wondering, “Did I pack that?” I know exactly where everything is.
It’s one of those small travel systems that makes every trip a little less stressful—and that’s exactly the kind of packing win I love.
What’s one thing that’s always in your airport “need anything” bag? I’d love to hear what you never travel without!
Cheers!
Amelia
