The final stretch before Spain is officially here — and at this point, the excitement is REAL. These last few days are less about shopping and more about locking everything in so you can actually enjoy the trip once wheels are up.
Here’s my realistic countdown routine before an international trip:
DAY 3: Secure the Essentials 💶
Three days out is my “logistics” day. This is where I make sure the important things are completely handled before vacation brain takes over.
✔ Euros Secured
I always like arriving with cash already on hand for:
- taxis
- tips
- small cafés
- markets
- emergencies
Not every place in Spain is cashless, especially in smaller areas or for quick stops.
✔ Airbnb + Hotel Triple Check
This is the day I:
- confirm all reservations
- screenshot addresses
- save check-in instructions
- verify host communication
- double check arrival times
Nothing is worse than landing internationally and digging through emails for a door code.
✔ Transportation Confirmed
I review:
- flights
- train tickets
- rental car reservations
- airport transfers
- transportation apps
Spain prep tip:
Download:
- Bolt
- Uber
- Google Maps offline maps
- airline apps
- Renfe train app
✔ AirTags Checked
Fresh batteries. Renamed correctly. Synced and working.
Peace of mind = priceless.
DAY 2: Download Everything 🎧📺📚
This is the cozy prep day.
✔ Download Shows for the Flight
My must-do:
- fully downloaded Netflix/Max/Hulu episodes
- podcasts
- Spotify playlists
- Kindle books
- audiobooks
Because airplane WiFi is never something I trust emotionally.
✔ Charge ALL Electronics
Power banks:
charged.
iPad:
charged.
Kindle:
charged.
Headphones:
charged.
Apple Watch:
charged.
Travel tip:
Put every charger into ONE dedicated tech pouch now so you’re not searching at midnight the night before.
✔ Outfit Final Check
At this point my airport outfit is already laid out:
- comfy trousers
- Kizik walking shoes
- soft tee
- tissue cardigan
- blazer
- scarf
- compression socks
Layering is everything on overnight international flights.
✔ Home Prep
This is also when I:
- set automatic lights
- check cameras
- empty trash
- clean out fridge
- confirm mail pickup
- make sure laundry is done before leaving
Coming home to a clean house after Europe feels elite.
DAY 1: Triple Check & Relax ✨
The day before travel is NOT for chaos.
If you’re panic-packing the night before an international flight, something has gone wrong.
✔ Triple Check Documents
Passport?
check.
Wallet?
check.
Travel cards?
check.
Drivers license?
check.
International adapters?
check.
✔ Carry-On Final Review
My rule:
If it’s essential, it goes in the carry-on.
Especially:
- medications
- electronics
- chargers
- travel documents
- one extra outfit
- jewelry
- skincare basics
✔ Weather Check
Final weather review means:
- adding or removing layers
- checking rain forecasts
- deciding on scarves/jackets
- final shoe decision
✔ Relax Before the Flight
At this point:
everything is done.
Order dinner.
Watch a comfort show.
Go to bed early.
Tomorrow is airport coffee, Delta One, and Spain. 🇪🇸✨
Final Thoughts
The best travel days happen when the prep is already finished.
Days 3, 2, and 1 are all about removing stress before the adventure starts — so once you land, you can actually enjoy the magic of being there.
Next stop:
Seville → Marbella → Madrid ✈️☀️🍷
