Day 5 Before Spain: Locking in Real Life Before Takeoff

At this point, the outfits are mostly set, reservations are made… and now it’s time for the part no one really talks about—making sure real life is handled before we leave.

Because the goal isn’t just a great trip… it’s coming home to zero chaos.

Here’s what I’m focusing on today:

Work: Shifting Into Delegation Mode

This is where I get very intentional.

  • Delegating open items with clear ownership
  • Closing anything that could escalate while I’m gone
  • Aligning on who handles what (no gray areas)
  • Setting boundaries on availability

I’m not trying to work from Spain—I’m trying to be in Spain.

House Reset = Future Me Wins

There is nothing better than walking into a clean house after travel.

  • Full clean before we leave
  • Laundry done + put away
  • Fridge cleared out
  • Fresh sheets on the bed

It’s the difference between a smooth return and immediate overwhelm.

Security Check

Peace of mind is everything when you’re overseas.

  • Cameras checked + working
  • Notifications tested
  • Quick walkthrough of doors/windows

No second guessing once we’re gone.

AirTag Refresh (Underrated Step)

This is one of those small things that matters a lot.

  • Replace batteries
  • Rename everything clearly
    • “Checked Bag – Black”
    • “Carry-On”
    • “Backpack”
  • Make sure they’re all connecting

Travel is smoother when you know exactly where your stuff is.

Friends Holding It Down

This part is invaluable.

  • Mail pickup covered
  • Someone local aware we’re away
  • Backup contact if needed

It makes it so much easier to fully unplug.

Final Thought

Day 5 is less about the trip and more about removing distractions from the trip.

The more you handle now,
the more present you get to be later.

Spain is getting close 🇪🇸
